1. He Refused To Pay For His Assistant Coach’s Cancer Treatment:
In 2004, Clippers assistant coach Kim Hughes was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Sterling however refused to cover the surgery cost of about $70,000. Instead several clippers players pooled in their money to pay for it.
So, he can buy his mistress (Stiviano) an $80,000 crocodile hermes handbag but can’t spend to save the life of a man on his team.
2. Would Not Rent His Properties To Hispanics And Blacks
Sterling had previously refused to rent his apartments to hispanics in the koreatown neighborhood of los angeles and to african americans in beverly hills. His reason being that hispanics smoke and drink a lot while blacks smell and attract vermin. Sterling was ordered to pay around $2.73 million dollars towards claims against his discriminatory rental practices.
He probably also believes that black cats bring bad luck. In fact i’m almost sure of it.
3. Denied A Contestant A Prize He Won:
In 1981, Sterling refused to pay a $1000 prize to a contestant who won a free throw contest until the contestant filed a lawsuit against him.
4. Wanted His Basketball Team To Specifically Have A White Head Coach:
He reportedly told former clippers executive elgin baylor that he wanted to fill his team with “poor black boys from the south and a white head coach”. During the 1988 drafting of Danny Manning, Sterling was quoted saying ”I’m offering a lot of money for a poor black kid”.
Ah, the good old plantation days eh Mr. Sterling when rich white men could buy and sell poor black slaves.
Baylor also sued Sterling for racially based employment discrimination alleging that the caucasian head coach’s salary was about $5 million a year while he was being paid only around $350,000/year.
5. Would Bring Women Into The Locker Room And Make Weird Remarks:
Baylor alleges that four player of the Clippers team came to him with the complaint that Sterling would frequently bring women into the locker room when the players were showering and make uncomfortable statements like “look at those beautiful black bodies”.
That’s right, let’s look at blacks as some kind of racehorse breed instead of actual people.
6. Made An Advertisement Look A Bit Misleading:
Following the Stiviano incident , UCLA had decided to decline the $3 million gift pledged by Sterling towards kidney research. Moreover UCLA claims that the ad below which was found in the Sunday L.A Times was in fact placed by Sterling himself and not by the university. Well done, Mr. Sterling. You are quite the politician.
7. Has A Bad Memory:
Stiviano reportedly has 100s of hours of recordings with Sterling because he would ask her to frequently record him as he was quite forgetful and the tapes helped refresh his memory.
Well, he doesn’t need to worry about that, TMZ and deadspin have made sure that his memory stays refreshed for years to come.
8. Splurged On Stiviano:
According to his wife Rochelle, Sterling showered Stiviano with gifts worth over $2 million that included a bentley, a ferrari, a range rover, a house and living expenses. Also, in Stiviano’s recent court documents she claims that she was Sterling’s “sugar baby” for nearly 4 years. As Sterling so eloquently put it “It was money for sex and sex for money”.
9. Tried To Intimidate A Detective In His Son’s Case:
In 1999, Sterling’s son scott at age 19 had shot his childhood friend with a shotgun at his father’s mansion over an argument about actress Lindsey Mckeon. He reportedly tried to intimidate a detective before his son’s case was dropped.
Well, that’s right Scott, since dear daddy’s a billionaire you could probably kill as many “regular” folks as your heart desires (daddy would prefer you exclusively target blacks though) and get away with it too.
10. Has Been Flamed By Several News Agencies:
Sporting news has described sterling as “one of the worst owners in basketball for decades” while The New York Times has described him as “the worst owner” in sports.
Well, what do you expect, the man sees his players as slaves in a plantation field playing with a giant cotton ball.
11. Has Had The Best Losing Record:
The Clippers under Donald Sterling has had the worst winning percentage through 2013-2014 amongst all the teams in the four major american leagues.
12. Conducts Weird Parties:
Sterling is alleged to annually have a bash at his malibu mansion called “The White Party”.
